Indiana Hoosiers Head Coach, Mike Woodson And His Wife Terri Celebrate Their Kids’ Success In Volleyball

Growing up in Indiana, Mike Woodson was surrounded by the excitement of basketball, a big part of the state's culture.

Throughout Mike Woodson’s basketball career, Terri stood by him, offering her support during good and challenging times for forty years.

On March 28, 2021, Mike Woodson was hired as the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team.

Highlights

  • Mike Woodson married Terri Woodson in 1983; his wife supported him through the ups and downs of his basketball career.
  • Terri and Mike have been collecting art for over thirty years, but Terri described themselves as casual art lovers.
  • They have welcomed two daughters, Alexis and Mariah, who played volleyball in college.

His contract was worth about $3 million annually for six years, with a base salary of $550,000 annually and an additional $2.45 million from outside sources, marketing, and promotional work.

His contract also includes bonuses, such as $100,000 for finishing in the top three of the Big Ten and another $100,000 for achieving an APR score above 950.

Lately, Indiana basketball’s struggles became overwhelming on 14 January night when the team trailed by 30 points against Illinois.

During the first half at Assembly Hall, the student section started chanting “Fire Woodson.” It was their first game since the winter break.

The “Fire Woodson” chants during the game would likely have been difficult for Mike Woodson’s family to hear.

Mike And Terri Have A Blissful Married Life

Terri Woodson has been by Mike’s side since they married in 1983, supporting him through the ups and downs of his basketball career.

The bond between Terri and Mike is strong, and they often share family moments on social media.

Terri, who lovingly calls her husband “Woody,” is actively involved in events the couple hosts, participating in charity work and helping to build relationships in both the basketball and entertainment worlds.

Though she keeps her life private, Terri is always there for Mike, attending games and events.

Terri and Mike have been collecting art for over thirty years, but Terri described themselves as casual art lovers.

They buy what resonates with them, whether a Mickey Mouse painting one week or a nude sculpture the next.

Terri shared that their first artwork, purchased over 30 years ago, was a print by John Biggers.

At the time, they were living in Katy, Texas, and Biggers was known for supporting the AKA’s charities.

Terri bid on the print at an event and was lucky to win it.

What she loved about the print was the way it made her feel.

When asked about the artwork they enjoy most, Terri explained that much of their collection focuses on the struggles of their ancestors.

Woodson Family Is Blessed With Two Daughters, Alexis And Mariah; Both Played College Level Volleyball

The couple have two daughters, Alexis and Mariah, who played volleyball in college.

Mike Woodson’s eldest daughter, Alexis, got married, and in 2021, he shared a photo of her in her wedding gown on Twitter. He expressed his pride as a father, celebrating the special moment.

On the other hand, Mariah Woodson majored in Social and Behavioral Sciences and redshirted her freshman year in 2009.

She was a two-time first-team all-area selection in 2007 and 2008 and earned spots on the All-State and All-Senior Teams in 2008.

During high school, her teams won state championships in 2005 and 2009.

In her senior year, she led her high school team with 371 kills and 40 blocks and was named to the All-Tournament Team of the 2008 Tampa Prep Invitational.
