On October 29, 2024, WVU head coach Neal Brown announced that Lesley, the team’s Defensive Coordinator for the past four and a half years and an assistant two years before, had been fired.
In the statement, Brown said,
Lesley was hired 2019 as a defensive line coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2021.
Football coach Jeff Koonz took over Lesley’s role on November 9, 2024, ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
