Hockey Star, Matthew And Madeline Gaudreau’s Newborn Son, Tripp, Carries The Middle Name “Matthew” In Honor Of His Late Father

After the heartbreaking loss of Matthew Gaudreau in a tragic bicycle accident, Madeline Gaudreau has welcomed their first child, a son named Tripp.

Matthew, a professional hockey player, and his brother Johnny were involved in a fatal crash on August 29 while riding their bikes in New Jersey.

They were struck by a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Sean M. Higgins, who is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the incident. Both brothers tragically lost their lives.

The Blue Jackets have already paid tribute to the Gaudreau brothers and plan to hold more memorials throughout the NHL season.

On December 29, Madeline shared the news of her son’s arrival, posting a photo of herself holding Tripp’s hand in the hospital. The caption read,

Tripp’s middle name, Matthew, is a tribute to his late father.

On October 14, Lexi Scafiddi shared a heartfelt message, noting the special connection between a Bible verse from Jesus and Baby Tripp’s father, Matthew, whose name would also be part of Tripp’s middle name.

She expressed her gratitude for being a small part of Madeline Gaudreau’s “Heaven Sent” baby shower, where she helped create special memories with balloons for the Gaudreau family.

She encouraged everyone to live with the same goodness and humility as Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau.

Lexi ended her message with love for Madeline, Gabrielle Vasaturo, and Momma Mindy.

As Madeline posted a picture of her newborn son, Tripp, many people who didn’t know her commented that they had been keeping up with her story.

They expressed their happiness and excitement for her new arrival, sending warm welcomes to Tripp and offering heartfelt support.

Despite their loss, the Gaudreau family has remained somewhat in the public eye since Johnny and Matthew’s passing.

Matthew and Madeline Gaudreau’s love story began when they were teenagers back in 2013.

Over nearly 15 years, they built a life together filled with shared memories and milestones.

In 2019, Matthew proposed, and in July 2021, the couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Elmer, New Jersey.

They often shared glimpses of their deep connection and affection on social media, celebrating their love with their followers.

Sadly, their happiness was cut short when Matthew passed away unexpectedly in 2024, just three years into their marriage.

Madeline has always described their time together as the best 14 years of her life.

She has shared that she will cherish those years and their love for the rest of her life.

Additionally, Johnny’s wife, Meredith, was also pregnant at the time of the crash.

Despite their shared heartbreak, Madeline pledged to support her sister-in-law and the two women and promised to help each other through the difficult journey ahead.
