Former England team coach and cricketer Graham was born on August 1, 1969, in Farnham, Surrey. He was the youngest son to his father, Geoff Thorpe, and his mother, Toni Thorpe.

The cricketer comes from a sportsperson’s family. Thorpe’s father, Geoff, is a former Farnham Cricket Club (FCC) chairman who is now serving as a committee member.

Similarly, Mr. Geoff was part of Farnham’s cricket tournament Umpire team and commentatory in the 2008 Farnham Verses Banstead matches.

Graham’s father encouraged him and his two elder brothers, Ian and Alan Thorpe, to join cricket.

Under Geoff’s supervision, the three Thorpe brothers become prominent players for the club. Graham’s older brother Ian has captained the 2nd XI for many years.

Similarly, the family’s eldest son, Alan, was also a team member for Wrecclesham and Farnham.

For many years, Mrs. Thorpe was a dedicated scorer for Farnham’s 1st and 2nd teams. Her contribution to the club went well beyond scoring.

Toni was instrumental in running the bar and organizing fundraising events.

Furthermore, Graham’s mother was the scorer for the club before her son’s gameplay for the team to her grandson, Nathan’s cricket legacy. Nathan is a current member of Farnham’s first-team squad.

Unfortunately, the mother of the former cricketer passed away in August 2022 after a health complication. Her memorial services were held at St. Peter’s Church Wrecclesham.

Just two years after his mother’s demise, Graham Thorpe also took his last breath on August 5, 2024.

The former England batsman was survived by his father, Geoff, wife, Amanda, and three children.
