“Yeah, working on the film was amazing. And it was also painful. I had had a miscarriage right before. I dove into Haywire so hard because I was in so much pain.”
Carano’s grief drove her to seek solace in Thailand, but even there. “I remember looking in the mirror and not recognizing my eyes. They were dark and sad,” she said.
“I was supposedly three months along, and there was no heartbeat… I didn’t understand.”

"You know, and the doctor told me, no, this is not an abortion. This is, you know, there is no heartbeat, and we have to take those cysts out."
But, the medical procedure only added to her pain and confusion.
“I actually woke up on the operating table… I was heartbroken and didn’t understand if that was an abortion or a miscarriage,” Carano recalled.
Over time, she found peace in her faith. She explained,
“It took me a long time to just give that to God.”
Furthermore, she named her new business “Ravency” in tribute to her lost child, explaining,
“Raven was the name I would have called the baby that I lost.”
