The Georgia State community is deeply saddened by the passing of student-athlete Daniel Medellin, who tragically lost his life on February 6.
Daniel, 21, originally from Colombia, had joined Georgia State for the 2023-24 academic year and quickly succeeded in the men’s golf team.

Daniel earned several honors, including being named PBC Second-Team All-Conference in 2023 and making the PBC Presidential Honor Roll in 2022 and 2023.

Standing at 5’9″ and weighing 140 pounds, Daniel quickly became valuable to the team with his exceptional skills on the golf course and his strong academic performance.
Before transferring to Georgia State, he attended Clayton State, where he honed both his athletic abilities and leadership qualities.
Known for his determination, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence, Daniel earned the respect of his teammates and coaches, exemplifying hard work and perseverance in everything he did.
Daniel embodied the true spirit of a Panther, according to Georgia State Men’s Golf Head Coach John Michal Cole.
His infectious smile, passion for golf, and relentless pursuit of excellence will always be remembered.

After all, he excelled in tournaments, recording three rounds in the 60s and finishing in the top 15 in five tournaments during the 2022-23 season.
He graduated from Colegio San Carlos in 2021, earning medalist honors in three tournaments. Daniel also majored in management at Georgia State.
