Sandy Lambur of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 86.

Born on June 22, 1938, in Evanston, Illinois, Lambur maintained a lifelong passion for Chicago sports teams, particularly the Cubs and Bears.

A natural athlete from an early age, Lambur’s sporting talents flourished after her family relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida in the 1950s.

She excelled across multiple sports and later channeled her athletic abilities into coaching.

Her softball coaching career was marked by significant success, as she guided numerous teams to state and national tournament competitions.

Lambur pursued higher education with the same dedication she showed on the field.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 1960, later complementing this with a Master’s degree from Indiana University in 1964.

Her professional life culminated in a long career in education. Lambur retired from Morton High School in Illinois in 2010 after decades of service to students and the community.

She is survived by her sister, Pat Smith of Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Dorothy Lambur.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin, Indiana is handling arrangements.
