Recently, she competed in Boston University’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational on February 15, 2025.
During this competition, she clocked an impressive 5:02.51 in the 800 meters, marking her second-best time in the event.
Moreover, she owes her achievements to the support and constant presence of her parents throughout her journey.
Haley Followed In Her Father’s Footsteps With A Career In Track & Field And Cross Country
Born to James and Denise Hamilton, Haley showed great promise in various sports from a young age.
Growing up with her two brothers, Max and Ian, Haley gravitated towards sports because of their influence and her fathers’.
She later followed in her father’s footsteps as her father, James also ran cross country and track and field at Pitt.
Her parents have been her biggest supporters, providing her with the encouragement and guidance she needed to excel.
Haley’s athletic journey at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School has been nothing short of impressive.
She has received multiple academic honors, including being a 2x CSC Academic All-District athlete and a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete in 2024.
Along with that, she was on the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for four consecutive years.
As a junior, she competed in 15 meets, qualified for the NCAA Regional in the 3000m steeplechase, and earned medals in both the A-10 and ECAC championships.
She also participated in a variety of sports. During her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, she participated in both cross-country and track & field.
Haley Shared A Close Bond With Both Of Her Parents Since An Early Age
Her father, James, was head coach at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School.
However, both of her parents are private individuals who prefer not to share their personal lives online.
But, James and Denise have openly expressed their unwavering support and belief in their daughter’s career.
In cross country, Haley led her team in six meets and achieved notable placements in various competitions.
During her sophomore year, she competed in another 15 meets, secured third place in the A-10 Outdoor Championships for the 3000m steeplechase, and led her team in cross-country events.
Her freshman year was equally successful. She had strong performances in track and field and cross country, including top-10 finishes in multiple events.
Before attending Duquesne, Haley was a state champion in cross country and a standout athlete at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

- In addition to playing basketball, Haley was a member of the WPIAL, finished second in 2019, and took part in Spiritan Ministry.
- She won the steeplechase at the SFU Red Flash Invitational, placed second at the RMU Invitational the week before, and had two top-5 finishes in 1500m (CMU March Meet and Mountaineer Classic).
- Hamilton was a member of the 4x800m team that earned bronze at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, finished fourth at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championship, and placed seventh at the A-10 Indoor Championships.
