Former New York Giants Charlie Evans At Peace With His Late Mother, While Stayed Hush About His Wife

He said "once you're no longer a player, you're often forgotten, with no one asking for autographs or recognizing you."

Charlie Evans, the former New York Giants running back, has died at the age of 76. He passed away on November 4 at his home in Longview, Texas. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

He leaves behind his children, Krystle Johnston of Hallsville, Texas, and Christopher Evans of Winter Park, Florida.

Evans was drafted by the Giants in 1971 and initially played on a backup squad.

He got his big break when injuries hit the team, and then he scored five touchdowns in three games.

The former New York Giants scored three touchdowns in a 35-17 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Sadly, his season was cut short when he broke his leg in a game against the Denver Broncos.

He played one more season with the Giants in 1973 before joining Washington in 1974, his last year in the NFL.

Charlie Evans Was Blessed With Two Granddaughters

Charlie Evans’s daughter, Krystle Johnston, shared that while many knew about the physical and mental struggles her father faced due to football, not many can say they lived out their childhood dream.

She added that her father is now at peace and no longer in pain, reunited with his mother, Byrda Jean Webber Evans.

The family has decided not to hold a service, but they ask that memorial donations be made to the Concussion Legacy Foundation.

For those that knew him, knew the demons he battled both physically and mentally because of football but not many can say they lived their childhood dream. My father is no longer in pain and is now at peace hugging his mama once again.

After all, as a member of the NFL’s concussion protocol research group, Evans’ family has chosen to donate his body for scientific study.

Although Evans and his daughter have not disclosed the identity of his wife, it is known that she passed away before him.

In response to Krystle’s loss, the friend expressed deep sympathy and mentioned that Aunt Byrda was eagerly waiting to welcome Charlie Evans.

 I am SO sorry for the pain and loss you feel… It is so hard to lose those we love. But you are right, He Will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither shall there be mourning or crying or pain for the former things have passed away.
