A 21-year-old former athlete from Bethel University, Andrew “Dre” Allred, got in a tragic car accident on August 7, 2025.
Reportedly, a semi-truck was involved in a collision, which caused Dre’s vehicle to flip multiple times while he was driving home from work.
Dre suffered severe injuries in the crash, and now he is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit (ICU) on life support.
He has a traumatic brain injury with a brain bleed, a fractured skull, a broken clavicle, torn ligaments in his neck, and a collapsed lung.
Likewise, Dre is also battling pneumonia and required two units of blood. Currently, he is on a ventilator with a chest tube.
Gaby Allred Copado, Dre’s mother, shared that doctors recently discovered a blood clot in his left arm. However, due to his brain injury, they’re unable to treat it with different medications for now, as it could worsen the brain bleed.
we found out today he has a blood clot in his left arm which there isn’t anything they can do because he’s already on blood thinners, and if they change his medication, it could affect his brain bleed, so we aren’t even focusing on that for now but there is a risk of the clot, moving or traveling

Reportedly, Dre was supposed to have a tracheotomy on Thursday; however, it was changed to Friday.
According to doctors, he will probably insert a feeding tube soon after that because he’s not able to open up his eyes on his own.
Dre’s mother, Gaby, permitted to share his story on social platforms. Hence, Bethel Pilot Baseball shared the incident and its details on her behalf.
Through the post, Gaby expressed a heartfelt wish for Dre to open his eyes independently. She recalled a past incident when Dre was hit in the face by a baseball during his freshman year, saying:
This kid!!! If it isn’t one thing, it’s the other! I thought that was bad, but this is so much worse.
Dre grew up in Northwest Indiana. He attended Homan Elementary, Grimmer Middle School, and Andrean High School.

Definitely not my best performance all around but I am happy to say I had a good time at the event. As always got to stay working. @canes_illinois @coachshee @ZachTeske1 pic.twitter.com/JqLDOC12nD
A talented multi-sport athlete, Dre played baseball, basketball, and football during his school years. Eventually, his passion for sports continued at Bethel University, where he played college baseball for the Bethel Pilots.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Dre’s family cover medical bills. Meanwhile, the fundraiser is close to hitting its $28,000 goal.
During this time, we pray for the speedy recovery of Dre.
Get Well Soon, Andy “Dre” Allred!
