Elmhurst, Illinois, native Michael Joseph passed away on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 68.
Though the specific cause of his demise is not publicly available, his passing is reported as peaceful.
Joseph Eder Was A Dynamic Multi-Sport Athlete Throughout His High School Years!
Born on August 13, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, Michael Joseph Eder grew up in Schiller Park.
He attended St. Maria Goretti School and East Leyden High School, where his athletic talents first shone.
During that time, he played both baseball and hockey and later played forward on semi-professional hockey teams.
Additionally, he spent many joyful years with the Hustlers softball league.
Beyond sports, he was a skilled carpenter and proud member of the Mid-America Carpenters Union (formerly Chicago Carpenters Local 181).
His craftsmanship extended all over the Chicago area, including homes and public spaces.
Known for his goofy laugh, he loved fishing, walking the dogs, and spending time with his loved ones.
On the other hand, he was a devoted catholic, closely connected to St. Maria Goretti Parish and later at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Bensenville.

Michael’s passing left a void in the heart of his extended family and the entire community.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughters Stephanie (Michael Scudder) and Lauren, and his brothers Bill (Marilyn), Jay (Carole), and Tom Eder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ann Eder.
The whole Elmhurst community, his church family, and longtime friends from sports and carpentry circles are grieving.
Regarding the funeral services and celebration of life, there will be a visitation on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pedersen Ryberg Funeral Home.
Likewise, the Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same place.
