Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs)
6’3, 230 lbs
In his first season as the starter, Mahomes absolutely tore the NFL up. He’s got one of the biggest arms we’ve ever seen and he did things we’ve never seen before. While I am passing on Mahomes because of the draft capital he will cost, every fantasy player on earth would take his stat line of 5097 passing yards and 50 TDs.
No look passes, left-handed passes, Mahomes did it all last year. He’s got the best tight end in the game in Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill can take the top off of any defense. The Chiefs also have playmakers Sammy Watkins and second-round pick Mecole Hardman, while both running backs Damien Williams and LeSean McCoy are solid receivers out of the backfield.
Head coach Andy Reid has this offense clicking on all cylinders and they should only improve with more time together. Mahomes is a rare talent and there is a reason he’s going early in fantasy drafts. His floor is about as safe as you can get and his ceiling is 5000 yards plus.
Young QB’s usually get better with time and this will be Mahomes’ 3rd season. He surrounded by talent and in a great offense, but he’s going to cost you.
