Ex- Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT, Booger McFarland Thanks His Mother Nancey Faye For Raising Him And His Two Siblings Singlehandedly

Booger McFarland lives with his wife, Tammie McFarland, with whom he tied the knot in 2008.

Booger McFarland’s mother, Nancey Faye, passed away due to a heart attack at 50.

McFarland always has the best interest of LSU at heart regarding its head football coach. That’s why he treats all of them equally.

Highlights

  • Booger McFarland was born to his mother, Nancey Faye McFarland, and his father, who left his family when Booger was 6.
  • McFarland’s mother, Nancey, passed away in 2005 due to a heart attack.
  • He grew up with his brother Christopher and his sister Latriece McFarland.

Although the former Tigers defensive lineman turned ESPN analyst is there to offer advice, he is also honest when things aren’t going well.

McFarland relayed his message on the Andy & Ari podcast to all coaches, saying,

“Every coach that comes to LSU, I tell them all the same thing: ‘I’m loyal to the three letters, not to you,’” “So you’re always going to get honest from me because I am loyal to my program because I want to see those kids win and I want to see LSU be successful. So when I text any of them going all the way back to Les Miles and even now to (Brian Kelly), I text them from a football analyst standpoint of what I see and it’s the pure, honest truth. “Sometimes it’s, ‘I love how you did XYZ’ or something it’s ‘You know what? This was poor.’ What you did, how we played, what we’re doing is not good enough. So I think as a coach, you can respect it, or at least I hope he does. BK and I’ve got a good relationship. I think he’s openly said he came to LSU for a opportunity to win a championship. So what I’m saying and what I text him, there’s no secret. What’s already known doesn’t need to be said.”

LSU is preparing to enter its fourth season under coach Brian Kelly and has yet to make the College Football Playoff.

The Tigers have finished with at least nine wins annually, but the expectations at a program like LSU are much higher.

Heading into next season, Booger McFarland said he has been honest with Kellt that he will have to get a lot further than he has in the past to convince the LSU faithful that he’s worth keeping around.

Booger McFarland’s Parents Separated When He Was Six

Anthony Darelle McFarland, aka Booger McFarland, 47, was born on December 18, 1977, in Winnsboro, Louisiana, to his mother, Nancey Faye McFarland, and his father, whose identity has not been revealed.

According to reports, his parents got separated when he was six. However, Booger never mentioned the reason behind their separation.

Some sources claimed that his father left the family to fend for themselves.

Then, Nancey, born in 1955, single-handedly raised him and his siblings on a salary of about $18,000. Booger said that his mother grew up at a time when people who looked like her couldn’t do certain things in America.

McFarland’s mother nicknamed him “Booger” when he was two.

Sadly, Nancey passed away in 2005 due to a heart attack at 50, leaving him to care for a younger brother and sister who are mentally disabled.

Since then, Booger has been working with the American Heart Association to educate the community on preventing heart disease and help raise funds to further the cause.

During one of the interviews, he said that he had been affected personally by his mother having a heart attack. He added,

“I’ve been affected personally by my mom having a heart attack,” “I know how I felt when I lost a very important woman in my life. This is an opportunity for me to help in the area in which a lot of women are affected.”
