Recently, as reported by Heritage Auctions, an ultra-rare 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Allen card has been sold for $701,500.

It has set new records for Inverson memorabilia. The sale significantly surpassed the previous record for an Inverson card, approximately $79,200.

PSA graded the card a five and attracted 58 bids before reaching its final price.

Furthermore, Trae Young pulled out Allen Iverson’s iconic move in a recent NBA match between the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons.

Hwaks’s star, Trae Young, delivered a dramatic game-winning shot with just 1.6 seconds remaining.

After the score and match-winning point, Young executed a step-back jumper over Malik Beasley, then notably stepped over Beasley.

The NBA fans were quick to associate the gesture with Allen Inverson’s iconic move over LA Lakers Tyronn Lue during the 2001 NBA Finals.

Allen Iverson Went Broke After Retirement And His Ex-Wife, Tawanna Turner, Struggled To Curb His Spending

Iverson, once an NBA superstar with over $200 million in earnings, found himself completely broke after retiring.

His extravagant lifestyle, reckless spending, and poor financial decisions left him in dire straits.

At one point, things got bad that his ex-wife, Tawanna Turner, had to give him $61 to buy a cheeseburger.

During a divorce proceeding in Atlanta around 2012-13, Allen pulled out his pants pockets. Recalling his then status, Allen Iverson states,

Moreover, the Washington Post reports that she struggled to curb his spending due to Allen’s extraordinary living standard.

According to a bank statement submitted in the divorce, the couple’s checking account was overdrawn by more than $23,000 in July 2011. 

 In a single day, $23,255.36 was deducted – at a diamond store, a hat shop, a steakhouse and a hotel. Similarly, Tawana testified that she had to sell more jewelry to pawn shops to pay the debt.

However, Iverson’s story didn’t end in financial ruin. Thanks to a lifelong Reebok deal. He will receive $32 million from a trust fund in 2030.

Similarly, in 2023, he secured financial stability by becoming Vice President of Reebok Basketball, working alongside Shaquille O’Neal.

Allen Iverson married his high school sweetheart Tawanna Turner on August 3, 2001, at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees, New Jersey.

The couple started dating in high school when they were just 16, and after being together for about a decade, they tied the wedding knot.

However, their marital relationship only lasted for about 12 years. Their divorce was finalized in 2013.

Moreover, on March 2, 2010, Tawanna Iverson filed for divorce, seeking custody of their children, child support, and alimony payments.

In her lawsuit, she stated that Allen had not been a responsible and available father to thier children, and she worries about them.

Allen Iverson and Tawanna Turner are parents of five children: three daughters, Tiaura, Messiah, and Dream, and two sons, Allen II and Isaiah.

The eldest child, daughter Tiaura Iverson, was born on December 16, 1994.

In his Hall of Fame speech in 2016, Allen referred to his firstborn as “Honey Boo Boo, a.k.a. Danny Sent Me Some Money”; the remark landed laughter from the audience.

Daughter Messiah Lauren Iverson is the fourth child of the couple, who joined the family on August 15, 2005, and the youngest child, daughter Dream Iverson, in October 2008.
