Ex-Detroit Player Brandon Joseph’s Mother Gina Joseph Manages Son’s Career, While Father, Jerome Stays Busy With The Family Garden

Brandon Joseph's mother is a real estate agent and serves as his manager.

Brandon Joseph, an American professional football safety, is in the spotlight for being a free agent after the Detroit Lions waved him on December 21, 2024.

His supportive family is behind him, and his parents always encourage him.

Highlights

  • Brandon Joseph’s mother, Gina, is a real estate attorney and serves as his manager, whereas his father, Jerome, is busy with the family garden.
  • He is of Antiguan and Italian descent, and his close-knit family bond helps him perform better on the field.
  • He was released from the Detroit Lions following his arrest on suspicion of drinking under the influence.

Brandon Joseph began playing football at College Station High School, where he was named Class 5A All-State as a senior after recording 95 tackles and 5 interceptions.

He initially committed to playing at Texas Tech University but changed his decision to sign up with Northwestern. He redshirted his true freshman season in 2020.

Later, he became the Freshman of the Year conference and was named first-team All-Big Ten Conference. Pro Football Focus rated him as the nation’s most potent safety.

Brandon transferred to Notre Dame for the 2022 season and entered the 2023 NFL draft. However, he was undrafted, and the Detroit Lions signed him as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023.

On January 30, 2024, he signed a reserve/future contract and played as a reserve defender and special teamer for the Lions roster in 2024. However, he was waived after 14 games.

Brandon Joseph Didn’t Like To Work With His Parents In Their Family Garden

Brandon Joseph, the son of Gina and Jerome Joseph, was born on February 5, 2001, in Austin, Texas. He is of Antiguan and Italian descent.

His mother provides proper guidance and manages his career, whereas his father is busy with the family garden. Gina is also a real estate attorney.

Brandon’s mother always cared about his well-being and believed he would eventually get his degree. His father contributes to the household while working in the family garden.

However, he has never shown interest in helping his parents in their family garden back home in College Station. He always chose video games before cultivation.

He couldn’t use ignorance as an excuse to shirk garden chores after spending 20 minutes pulling fresh carrots out of the soil. His hands and knees were getting dirty while working in the garden.

Hey, I’m putting him to work when he comes back. He’s always giving me a hard time because my husband and I are always out in the yard. Yes, I love to garden. And yes, he didn’t typically want to help but now I’m putting him to work because he knows.

Although he doesn’t like being on the farm, he volunteered at the Unity Garden.

He didn’t back down from the challenges and tried one of the bright yellow blooms of the potent edible flower used for centuries as a pain reliever.

After eating, one side of his mouth went numb, and he couldn’t stop spitting.

Furthermore, he is funny and shares his most humorous insights, usually only around his family and friends.

His close-knit family bond helps him perform better on the field, and his parents come together to support him in his professional athletic journey.

Brandon Joseph’s Arrest Cost Him His Detroit Lions Team

Brandon Joseph, a second-year safety, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

Authorities observed him driving through the city at high speed and noticed signs of alcohol use during the car stop.

Brandon was detained for roughly six hours before being released.

However, the Detroit Lions released him on Saturday afternoon, a clear signal of their stance on such matters. The Spokesperson of the Lions didn’t provide a statement regarding his release.

Previously, he was released from the team on August 29, 2023, but re-signed to the practice squad.

He was a potential asset for the Lions’ defense but was released before their game against the Chicago Bears.

He was very cooperative, he was compliant. We had reasonable suspicion and probable cause to investigate him for operating under the influence.
He subjected himself to all required tests. We are waiting for the results of those tests before any additional charges are even filed.

Paul Vanderplow, the Dearborn Heights Police Department director.
