Eddie Ladner played basketball for Mississippi College while attending. In 1972, he landed his first coaching job as an assistant at Harrison Central.

During the late 1970s and 1980s, Ladner had Harrison Central competing for District and State titles with Gulfport and Biloxi.

In 1982, coach Eddie Ladner guided Harrison Central to the State Championship title, highlighted by the play of players like Kenny Jimmerson, Tony Johnson, Anthony Stewart, and Vernon Brown.

In 2017, Eddie Ladner was inducted into the Gulfport Sports Hall of Fame banquet. He was inducted for contributing to basketball achievements and a history in Harrison Central Red Rebels.

In the speech of his Gulfport Sports Hall of Fame honor, Eddie Ladner had stated,

I’m just humble and thankful for being inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s a great honor. Glad for my players, for my family, friends, my high school teammates, my college teammates.”

Ladner’s wife, former head coach of the Ole Miss Women’s Basketball team, is mourning the loss of her beloved husband.

Renee Ladner is a teacher and coach at D’lberville High School. She has held this position since 2012, after she left her job as the head coach at Ole Miss.

Eddie’s wife started her coaching career at North Gulfport in Gulfport, Mississippi, where she coached the seventh—and eighth-grade basketball teams.

Then, she moved on to coaching for the Harrison Central Ninth Grade High School. She coached boys’ and girls’ basketball and track teams there for three years.

Furthermore, Eddie Ladner’s wife also worked as a coach for St. John High School in Gulfport, Mississipi, for about 10 years and later moved to Flordia Gators in 2000 as an assistant coach.

Moreover, Renee Ladner worked as the head coach of the basketball team at the University of Mississippi for about five years.

Together, Eddie and Renee made a great contribution to Mississippi’s basketball history as coaches, while Renee is still making an impact in the field.

Eddie Ladner and Renee Ladner raised two daughters, Allisoon Ladner Kern and Jennifer Ladner Nowlin.
