Detroit Tigers Announcer Jack Morris Divorced His First Wife, Carol, And Married Jennifer

Jack has prioritized family while staying away from the public eye.

Jack Morris was suspended from the Tigers’ broadcast booth when he used an offensive accent on air while Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels was at bat in August 2021.

An American former professional baseball starting pitcher and color analyst has been married twice and has three sons.

Highlights

  • Jack Morris has been married twice, first to Carol and later to Jennifer.
  • He has two sons, Austin and Erik, with Carol, and one son, Miles, with Jennifer.
  • Jennifer helped him let go of resentment after years of frustration over his delayed induction into the Hall of Fame.

Before spending some time as a color analyst, John Scott Morris played Major League Baseball between 1977 and 1994. He won 254 games throughout his career.

The Detroit Tigers selected him in the fifth round of the 1976 MLB draft, and he played till 1990 before signing with his hometown Minnesota Twins.

Similarly, he played for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Cleveland Indians, and the Cincinnati Reds before retiring for good at 41.

He was the highest-paid pitcher in the American League in 1987, 1988, 1991, and 1993.

Afterward, he joined the Minnesota Twins as a color analyst and became a part-time coach for the Detroit Tigers during spring training.

He served as a color analyst for Toronto Blue Jays radio broadcasts in 2013 and as a part-time analyst for Detroit Tigers telecasts on Fox Sports Detroit in 2015.

On August 17, 2021, Jack used an offensive term on air towards Shohei Ohtani and later issued an on-air apology.

Although Shohei wasn’t personally offended, the Tigers suspended the analyst. He returned in less than a month but parted ways after the 2022 season.

We are deeply disappointed by the comments made by Jack Morris during the broadcast last night. We fully support Bally Sports Detroit’s decision and their on-going commitment to ensure that all personnel are held to the highest standards of personal conduct.

Jack Morris was first married to Carol Morris, with whom he shared two sons, Austin and Erik.

During his playing career, he rarely discussed his family in interviews, but he occasionally mentioned his first wife.

However, their marriage had its ups and downs, and they eventually divorced without revealing the reasons for their separation.

Despite the divorce, Jack has always spoken respectfully about Carol and maintained a strong relationship with his sons.

After his divorce, he married Jennifer Morris, and they have a son, Miles.

Jack rarely opens up about his personal life, but he has acknowledged his second wife’s support in his post-baseball career.

He credited Jennifer for helping him let go of any resentment toward Baseball Writers’ Association members who initially kept him out of the Hall of Fame during his 15 years on the ballot.

Her influence kept him from dwelling on past disappointments.

She kept reminding me that it was out of my control. I came to peace with it. After that, quite honestly, I didn’t worry about it. I didn’t care. I believed in my heart of hearts, that if I made it to the Hall of Fame, it was going to be on the ballot from my peers. That’s the way it worked out.

Jack Morris has successfully balanced fame with a quiet family life throughout his career.

Although his personal life remained largely out of the spotlight, his wives and children have been central to his journey.

His respect for his family, even after divorce, reflects his commitment to maintaining strong relationships away from the public eye.

Jack And Jennifer Morris Support Harmon Killebrew Hospice

Jack Morris’s life after baseball has been about cherishing moments with family and friends and giving back.

He reveled in the joy of connection, whether playing a round at Leatherstocking Golf Course with his sons or embracing the warmth of the community.

I was joking with my wife that I’ve never hugged so many grown men in my entire life. It’s been so much fun. I think everybody should feel something like this at some point in their life. It is genuinely a great group of guys that love each other. They are welcoming this group of guys just like they’re part of the family. That’s what makes it so cool.

The same spirit of camaraderie and generosity extends to Morris and his wife Jennifer’s support for the Harmon Killebrew Hospice, a cause close to their hearts.

The late Harmon Killebrew, a baseball legend and philanthropist, was revered not only for his prowess on the field but also for his dedication to helping others.

Harmon was someone truly respected, and he gave so much of himself, whether through the Miracle League or his mission with the Children’s Lighthouse.

His passion was doing good for others, and it had nothing to do with baseball.

Jack and his wife felt compelled to act when they learned about the need for a hospice in the area. They were clear that this vital service should exist here, where families already have access to excellent healthcare.

The Morrises supported the hospice, and their involvement is a tribute to Harmon’s legacy.
