News 9 has announced that American sportscaster Dean Blevins will be inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame this year.

Dean was voted one of the “Ten Best-Dressed Men in Sports” by Sport magazine. He has announced college football and basketball games for 25 years, including 14 years for ABC, CBS, and ESPN.
Some of his assignments included significant bowl games as part of the Bowl Championship Series. He has done some PPV work for Fox Sports Net.
He joined KWTV in 1998 as the co-host of the then-newly created Sunday sports program The Final Score; however, in the spring of 2001, after the death of director Bill Teegins, Dean was appointed as the station’s sports director and lead sports anchor.
In 2013, Blevins came under fire for what many perceived as a racist tweet. The tweet read, “Happy we are the Melting Pot. Will be happier…if ppl who pour into our pot & sell me fuel & Milk Duds find time to learn our language.”

American sportscaster Dean Blevins, 70, born in 1955, married Sarah Anne Gilbert Blevins, 68, in April 1998 after dating for several years.

Dean wished Sarah a happy Mother’s Day on May 12, 2019, and said he was blessed to have her alongside him. He wrote,

Not only the Greatest Living American Mom, but my world changed forever for the good when you brought my stepsons Chris and Ross into my life some 23 years ago — & now Kelsey Gilbert is aboard and starting to offset the strong male advantage in numbers! Dean Blevins and Sarah Blevins were blessed with a son named Carson Luke Blevins, 26, in 1999.
On October 31, 2015, Dean wished Carson a 16th happy birthday through his official Facebook handle with the caption,
Happy 16th Birthday to Carson Luke Blevins! My sidekick for so many years is moving on to another phase of life. As many of you know, I was unable to father a child for decades. But what a gift it was that my beautiful bride Sarah and I were lucky to have the opportunity to raise bring Carson in to this world. he has certainly been more than anything we ever envisioned. Carson had a sweet spirit about him from Day 1 — reminding us of his grandad Dexter. Carson does well in school, loves his pals at OCS and takes his Christian faith seriously. Carson showed early strength in dealing with a challenging surgery as a young boy and dealt with it like a champ! That internal strength has helped him become what he is today on his 16th birthday! — curious, caring & confident! If you can’t tell, Carson has been a dream come true. Carson was born after several procedures and costly medical bills, as Dean was told by doctors in 1984 that he couldn’t be the father of a child.
In addition, Dean has two stepsons, Chris and Ross Gilbert, from Sarah’s previous relationship. As per the source, his stepsons graduated from the University of Oklahoma.

- Blevins grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and was an all-state athlete in football, basketball, and track while in high school, where he was voted the winner of the “Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Year” by the Jim Thorpe Association in 1974.
