Zack Martin Bids Farewell To His Legendary Career, As He Leaves A Legacy Of Excellence

Martin recently announced his retirement from the NFL after an impressive 11-year career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Zack, who was beloved among teammates for his exceptional dedication and teamwork, leaves a significant void in the Cowboys’ offensive line.

Throughout his career, he earned numerous accolades, including seven All-Pro selections and nine Pro Bowl appearances.

His seven times as a first-team All-Pro pick is tied for the most in team history with Lilly and Hall of Famer Randy White.

Additionally, he was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team from 2010 to 2020, solidifying his status as one of the most decorated offensive linemen.

In 2024, Zack’s playing time was limited due to an ankle injury that required surgery.

Despite this setback, he continued to play through multiple injuries over the last two seasons until he no longer had the strength to continue.

Martin has also expressed a desire to prioritize his health, which influenced his decision to retire.

In the last offseason, he restructured his contract, providing the Cowboys with salary cap relief if he chose to retire in 2025.

As a result, the Cowboys can designate him as a post-June 1 cut, meaning he will count $9.4 million against the cap in 2025 and $17 million against the 2026 cap.

Brock Hoffman admirably filled in for Martin last season, but the Cowboys may explore options to find a long-term replacement for Martin.

Zack, Along With His Brothers, Nick And Josh Followed In Their Father’s Footsteps
