UFC 245 Nunes vs Randamie 2: Amazing 5 Round Fight!

UFC 245 Nunes vs Randamie 2: Amazing 5 Round Fight!

Nunes vs Randamie was the first belt fight of the night which means that it was the first 5 round fight of the night.

The only problem with the fight was that from the first seconds of the fight it was clear that this will be a hard 5 round fight.

1st Round No Fun For the Contender

"The Lioness" Nunes started hammering de Randamie very brutally from the first moments of the first round!

Nobody watching the game believed that de Randamie will survive the first round with Nunes.

De Randamie escaped a guillotine attempt and late submission attempt not considering over 30 punches that the lioness landed on De Randomie's body and face.

2nd Round Nunes vs Randamie: The Contender Nailed A Wake-Up Call Head Kick

Nunes started her belt defense in the same brutal fashion as she started her first round. Nunes dodged de Randamie's punch and went for a takedown.

It felt like it's gonna end any moment until de Randamie gathered herself and expected Nunes' ground pressure.

De Randamie used Nunes' tiredness and landed an exciting triple combo of head kick, chin punch and a flying knee that stunned the champion. It was the first time in a long time Nunes got into so much trouble.

Nunes vs Randamie 2 didn't go the same way as the first fight these two lady fighters met in 2013.

3rd Round Back To What We Are Use To, or Not?

Nunes quickly got back at the horse in round 3. The 3rd round was mostly a ground fight.

It was clear that Nunes has upper hand in grappling and even though de Randamie has greatly improved since their last fight de Randamie made the same mistake as she did in the 2nd round.

De Randamie missed a very predictable punch and Nunes took her down once again! Nunes superior grappling skills helped her to control the fight throughout the 3rd round.

Nunes vs Randamie 4th Round Wake Up Call!

Nunes continued to be the better fighter and she controlled the fight most of the 4th round until she didn't!

Nunes' lack of concentration in the 3rd minute of the 4th round almost cost Nunes the title.

Luckily for Nunes. De Randamie does not possess the same grappling skillset to the top UFC women fighters.

De Randamie was very close to landing a sweet triangle that resulted from Nunes' poor concentration and no doubt that Nunes is vulnerable and she clearly didn't expect this fight to go more than 2 rounds.

5th Round Salvation For Nunes

Nunes was the better fighter in all 5 rounds and even though it was surprising to see a lapse of concentration in the reining UFC Champion she controlled the fight and despite de Randamie's ability to surprise Nunes, it was not enough to strip her the title.

Check out what happened in the preliminary card fights (Heinisch vs Akhmedov, Brown vs Saunders, Vieira vs Aldana)  and main card fight (Yan vs Faber, Moraes vs Aldo) stay tuned for more UFC action!
