Khabib Poirier - UFC 242

Khabib Poirier Fought But What Happened Next Will Melt Your Heart

Khabib Nurmagomedov Is Still The Undisputed Champion

The long-expected fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier went as expected Khabib defeated Poirier. Khabib was a better fighter from the first minute. He had his head in the game the whole night and not even high humidity (73%) and temperature (felt like 123 F) of an Arabian night could stop him from winning.

Khabib is a fighter with incredible composure but everybody knows he loves to take his opponent down and win by submission.  He defeated Dustin Poirier with a rear-naked choke in the 3rd round. That could easily be a sum-up of UFC 242 but that’s not really a story of tonight.

It was really a one-sided fight. Khabib didn’t give Poirier any real chance to surprise him and with six successful takedowns controlled Poirier till the 3rd would.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was banned for over a year for after the fight incident with Connor McGregor’s crew but obviously Khabib didn’t enjoy his time without professional fights by lying on the beach and drinking margaritas (something that McGregor would probably do) but rather trained hard as he should have and defended his belt against Poirier.

Poirier is clearly a class fighter and human being and regrets his lack of preparation for a fight with Khabib.

Who Will Challenge Khabib Next?

The thing about Khabib is that everybody knows what he is gonna do but nobody can stop him. Nobody can match with his grappling ability and that’s why he is the undisputed Lightweight UFC Champion of the World!

Will we see a rematch with Conor McGregor or perhaps a fight with Tony Ferguson? We will find out in upcoming weeks but if Khabib has anything to say about it seems like he still didn’t get over McGregor and it’s unlikely that we shall see him in the ring with Khabib.

Khabib Shows That He Is Not Only A Tough Dude

It’s all about respect. Khabib said “Why did we have so much respect between us [refering to Poirier] then my last fight with this F***ing guy I had to a lot of crazy stuff” Guess who he is referring to here. “I want to forget everything we showed what MMA is really about”.

Clearly Khabib and Poirier see much more eye to eye than Khabib did with McGregor. How often do you see a winner fighter wear a shirt of his opponent brand and donating all the money he makes from selling it to losing fighter’s charity!

Big RESPECT to Khabib showing everybody what this sport is about – respect, honor, and generosity.

Khabib is without a question becoming a worldwide recognized face of UFC.
