Tributes have been shared for Indie Mai Byrne, a bright, kind, and talented young athlete from County Carlow, who tragically passed away on March 3 in Carlow town.
She is remembered as the “loving daughter of Caroline, precious little sister to Ellie and Lia, adored granddaughter of Mickey Joe, Geraldine, and Damian, and best friend to Paul.”

“It is with profound sadness that St. Laurence O’Toole A.C. learned of the devastating news of the passing of our juvenile athlete Indie Mai Byrne, who has left us far too soon. Indie Mai was a much beloved member of the club, a truly beautiful girl with a beaming smile, who showed great talent, kindness and was so highly thought of by her coaches and her many friends here in the club, whom today are left with heavy hearts.

Friends And Family Mourn The Loss Of Indie Mai Byrne
She will be deeply missed by her devastated mother, sisters, grandparents, great-grandmother Mary Dooley, aunts Sarah and Eadaoin, uncles Mikey and Mark, cousins, extended family, relatives, and her close friends and classmates.
The demise of Indie Mai has deeply affected the friends and neighbors and those who have attended Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal primary school in Carlow.
One person shared how they knew Indie through St. Catherine’s and Community Games, where she was a kind and beautiful child.
They remembered how Indie’s friendship with their daughter Zoe grew as they played soccer together and attended after-school activities.
Their thoughts and prayers were with the family, wishing Indie peace.
A close friend of Indie’s also expressed how much they would miss her, describing her as the kindest girl and recalling the fun they had together at summer camp, competing in running events and meeting others like Molly Scott.
