Ezekiel Elliott Avoids Suspension For Latest Incident

A few days ago, Cowboys Nation was holding their collective breath as Ezekiel Elliott was heading to New York to meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell. Unfortunately, the NFL has a history of dragging their feet on making decisions on discipline, so the wait was on.

Luckily, it didn’t take long to get a resolution.

According to Ed Werder, the Dallas Cowboys were informed by the NFL office that Elliott will not be suspended for the incident in Las Vegas. Goodell determined that Elliott did not violate the league’s personal conduct policy, but took the opportunity to reinforce that Elliott needs to hold himself to a higher standard. Elliott was sent the following letter from the league office:

This has to be a huge weight off the Cowboys’ minds. Jerry Jones said he didn’t expect a suspension, but with the inconsistencies with which Goodell levies his justice, it was hard to be sure until the official word came down.

The apology from Elliott yesterday after meeting with Goodell was likely one of the earliest signs that he was safe from punishment. It also confirmed that Elliott knows he needs to make better decisions.

No matter what you thought about the incident, if you thought Zeke should be suspended or not, it’s clear that he has to stay out of these situations in the future. He’s running out of chances.

Barring injury, the Cowboys have their stud running back available for all 16 games.
