Tragedy struck at New Mexico’s Angel Fire Resort on February 8, 2025, when 21-year-old Koby Hunter of San Antonio, Texas, lost his life in a snowboarding accident.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on the Hully Gully ski run, located on the backside of the mountain.
Resort officials confirmed that the Angel Fire Ski Patrol responded swiftly to the scene, alongside the Angel Fire Police Department and Fire/EMS Department.
Emergency responders transported Hunter to an ambulance and attempted to transfer him to the Colfax County Angel Fire Airport.
Their plan was to life-flight him to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Tragically, Hunter was pronounced deceased prior to transport.
Angel Fire Resort CEO John Kitts expressed the community’s grief in a statement:
