Cincinnati Bengals receiver Jermaine Burton is facing accusations of choking a woman just days before being excluded from the team’s travel plans for the Steelers game.

On January 3, 2025, it was announced that Burton would not be going with the team to Pittsburgh for their Week 18 matchup against the Steelers following a decision by the coaches.

It remains unclear whether this unfortunate incident influenced the decision to leave Burton out of the team’s plans for the season finale in Pittsburgh.

However, this wasn’t the team’s first decision to sit him out of a game.

Earlier this season, Burton was listed as inactive after missing a walkthrough practice. In 14 games, he managed just four receptions for 107 yards.

The 23-year-old is also dealing with an eviction threat from his apartment complex due to overdue rent and damages.

Jermaine Burton’s Girlfriend Called Him Narcissist And Manipulator

The couple had been in an on-and-off relationship in the months leading up to the alleged incident, having first met in September.

On 4 January, Burton shared a cryptic message on his Instagram story, which said, “lies. Stop calling my phone.”

She was visibly distressed and sobbing heavily throughout her statements.

The woman, casually dating Jermaine Burton since September, said they argued after having drinks the previous night.

The 19-year-old girlfriend claimed Burton blocked her from entering her apartment, physically restrained her in the hallway, and prevented her from going inside.

During the call, the woman explained that Burton had been shouting and screaming at her in the car.

Although they had parted ways, he arrived at her home and waited for her when she arrived.

After she finally managed to get into her home, she said he followed her, took her phone, and smashed it.

Before leaving, Burton reportedly took a knife from the dishwasher, held it to his neck, and blurted that he was going to take his life.

“He said he was going to kill himself. He’s a narcissist. He’s a manipulator.”
