Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson Father Lamar Jackson Sr. And Grandmother Doris Denkins Passed Away On Same Day In 2005

Some sources have claimed that his father Lamar Jackson Sr. died in a car accident.

Lamar Jackson’s parents have been significant inspirations in life for different reasons.

Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson has rarely lost against the NFC. This week, however, he faces a significant challenge.

Highlights

  • Lamar Jackson was born to his father, Lamar Jackson Sr., and his mother, Felicia Jones, who has been serving as Lamar’s manager.
  • His father, Lamar Jackson Sr., and his grandmother, Doris Denkins, passed away on the same day.
  • Lamar Jackson shares a close relationship with his brother Jamar Jackson and his two younger sisters.

Baltimore’s matchup with Philadelphia on Sunday pits the Ravens’ top-ranked offense against the Eagles’ No.1-ranked defense.

It might be the biggest test this season of Jackson’s dominance against the NFC. He is 23-1 as a starter against teams from that conference, but Philadelphia arrives in Baltimore this weekend with a 7-game winning streak and a formidable defensive front.

In the NFL Kickoff Game against the Chiefs, Jackson passed Russell Wilson for the third-most career rushing yards for a quarterback.

Jackson finished with a perfect passer rating for the fourth time in his career, completing 16-of-19 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-10 victory in week 9.

Lamar Jackson’s Parents Always Believed In His Son’s Talent And Instilled Values of Hard Work

Lamar Jackson, 27, was born on January 7, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida, to his father, Lamar Jackson Sr., and his mother, Felicia Jones.

His early passion for football was nurtured by his father, Lamar Jackson Sr., a high school football coach who was instrumental in helping him realize his dream and assist him with training sessions.

Unfortunately, his father, Lamar Jackson Sr., passed away at 31 from a heart attack in 2005. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At the time, Lamar was just eight years old. Some sources have claimed that his father died in a car accident.

Lamar referenced this tragedy during his acceptance speech for the Heisman Trophy in 2019.

On the same day, his grandmother Doris Denkins also left the world. However, the exact reason behind his grandmother’s passing has not been revealed yet.

Lamar has a tattoo of his grandmother’s name as a reminder of her.

His mother, Felicia, raised him and his siblings as a single mother. Felicia served as the manager of her son Lamar when he was drafted into the NFL in 2018.

Felicia has trained along with Lamar and prepared Jackson for his football career since childhood.

During the interview with ESPN, Felciai said that she was an athlete and used to play basketball in college.

Lamar calls his mother, Felicia, his best coach. To help him build his endurance, he and his mother ran together daily, regardless of the weather.

In 2016, Jackson wrote an essay for The Players’ Tribune detailing his rise to the NFL.

Specifically, he talked about how he grew into a better player, crediting his mother for much of his game. He wrote,

“A lot of people helped me get better when I was young, but the best coach I’ve ever had was also my first one: Mom,” he wrote. “And I’m not saying that just because she looked out for me and encouraged me to pursue football and all that stuff. I mean she actually made me grind to get better.”

Lamar spent his first NFL paycheck on a new house for him and his mother. He might make headlines, but his mother prefers to keep her life private.

Lamar Jackson’s Family Are Originally From Africa

Although Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson and his family live in the United States, his ancestors were originally from Africa.

Therefore, Lamar and his entire family hold American nationality and African-American ethnicity.

His family includes one younger brother, Jamar Jackson, and two younger sisters. When the Baltimore Ravens picked Lamar, Jamal shared an emotional message with him. He said,

“You make my life special. I wouldn’t know what to do without you.”
