Chesterfield, New Jersey, Art Stubbs, a dedicated teacher and coach at the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, unexpectedly lost his life in a car accident on January 13, 2025.

He experienced an unexpected medical emergency but couldn’t make it out alive. His ex-wife, Erika Smoots, and two kids, Arthur and Morgan, survive him.

Nonetheless, his students will never forget his kindness and motivation, which changed the lives of many athletes.

Art Stubbs Was The Pillar Of Strength For His Children

Art Stubbs was a beloved father known for his boundless love, kindness, and joy. His extraordinary presence resonated deeply within his community.

Moreover, he was a source of unwavering support, inspiration, and guidance to many.

Unfortunately, Stubbs lost his life due to a car accident, leaving behind his two cherished children, Arthur and Morgan Stubbs. 

He called his children Stubbs Superheroes and often shared glimpses of their personal lives on social media. The football coach raised his two children as a single parent.

His son followed in his footsteps and pursued a football career. Arthur played tight end and outside linebacker for Lawrence High School, where he received the Horace Linderman Award.

He stands 6 feet and 1 inch tall and weighs about 220 lbs. Later, he attended Gettysburg College, majoring in economics and playing linebacker.

On the other hand, Stubbs’s daughter prefers to live a low-profile lifestyle. His family has yet to announce his memorial services.

The football coach was a beacon of light who brought warmth and positivity into every room he entered. He constantly interacted with family, friends, and coworkers with contagious enthusiasm and a love of life.

Art Stubbs was married to Erika Smoots, and they had two children. However, their marriage had ups and downs, eventually leading to their divorce.

Afterward, Erika Smoots married Renard Smoots. They have been together for over eight years and often share glimpses of their personal lives on Facebook.

Erika attended Lawrence High School and graduated from Rutgers University, Douglass College in 1993.

She began teaching at Lawrence Intermediate School and became a third-grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin on November 23, 2019.

On behalf of my children, Morgan and Arthur Stubbs, it is with great sadness that we share the passing of Art Stubbs. He brought love, kindness, and joy to all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
