Jeff Hardy and his brother Matt Hardy grew up under the unwavering guidance and support of thier father, Gilbert Hardy.
Gilbert’s contribution to Jeff’s life has been pivotal, as he raised him after his mother’s passing and instilled resilience and motivation to overcome life’s challenges.
However, Hardy’s father passed away on April 6, 2021, at the age of 87. Jeff’s elder brother, Matthew Moore Hardy, took his Instagram post to inform him about his father’s passing. In the statement, he wrote,
Early Tuesday morning, April 6th, our Dad passed away. Jeff & I were with him at home & by his bedside when he took his final breath. My brother Jeff was our Dad’s guardian angel the last couple of years.

In the 2021 WWE season, Jeff Hardy had been taking care of his sick father, who was struggling with mental illness. Moreover, he was battling with severe depression.
According to Jeff, his father Gilbert entered into a dark depression around 2017 and has been struggling since. Jeff was determined to be with his father during his difficulties. He states,
I’d been taking care of him, and it was just bad to where he did not want to be here. He was ready to go. But I’ve always told myself when he needs me, I’m going to take care of him. I just did everything I could to get him excited about life and all that stuff.”
