Jim Bolton of Hartselle, Alabama, tragically passed away at 11:00 A.M. on August 18, 2025, at the age of 79.
While the cause of his demise is under wraps, his loved ones shared that he is now resting in the arms of God, no longer in pain.
Jim Bolton Was Widely Remembered as a Multi-Talented Athlete!
Born in 1946, Jimmy Dwight Bolton, known affectionately as Jim, was a beloved multi-sport athlete from Hartselle, Alabama.
He was originally from Trinity, Alabama, and attended West Morgan High School.
Later, he studied survival skills at the University of South Vietnam and eventually settled in Hartselle, Alabama, where he lived for many years.
He grew up playing basketball and was known as one of the best point guards to ever play at WMHS.
Beyond basketball, he also enjoyed tennis, golf, and even dancing, showing a natural athletic ability across many activities.
He was admired for his athletic ability and the energy he brought to every game.
Jim was always the one to beat, whether on the basketball court, in bike races, or backyard matchups.
His legacy as a true competitor and sportsman was matched by his reputation as a soldier, cowboy, and dancer.
Jim’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, and the wider community.
His loved ones recalled his kindness, humor, and the way he made everyone feel like they mattered.
Barry Maner, his nephew, described him as a hero who inspired him to follow in his footsteps, saying:
My Uncle, Jimmy Bolton, passed away this morning at 11:00. We are seven years apart so he was always like a big brother to me. He was also my hero. Everything Jim did, I wanted to do also, sometimes to his aggravation
. When we had athletic games or bike races there in Trinity, we were always playing for second because Jim would always finish first. We had a basketball goal in my Grandmother’s backyard and Bruce( Kimbrell) would come over to play against Jim. My grandmother(Bolton) had to separate them on more than one occasion
. Jim would spot me ten points and play to twenty,again, always playing for second…
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Teresa Bolton, and their children.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, August 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in Decatur.
Similarly, the celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, August 24, from 3:00 to 3:45 PM at the same place.
