After Another Student Lost at a Football Event, Pompano and Ely Communities Rally to Support Youth and Fight Violence

Jazzmann LeSane, a community member and youth mentor, recently posted on Facebook calling for support from the Pompano and Ely communities.

The post comes after a series of troubling incidents at Ely, including fights involving students and staff, and the recent loss of another student at a football event.

Jazzmann emphasized the urgent need to bring youth together to promote positivity, healthy relationships, and emotional support.

Pompano and Ely Communities Stand for Youth Sports and Against Violence!

The post highlights that Jazzmann had previously proposed a youth event in 2018 and 2019, aimed at helping students feel valued and supported.

At that time, the event was denied because school officials did not want students to miss class.

Now, following recent incidents at Ely and the Pompano Middle schools, Jazzmann is determined to make the event happen.

Jazzmann aims to create a safe, fun environment where students can express themselves, connect with peers, and learn the importance of respect and teamwork.

Following Jazzmann’s post, community members have responded enthusiastically.

While receiving community support, Jazzmann has also responded in the comments, thanking everyone.

Thank y’all so much!! The main needs are a DJ with wireless mics and a sponsor(s) to buy the pizza & drinks for the kids. Everything else is already planned out. I just need to get approval from the school and work with Ms. McGirt to set a date. It can only work if you help me Connie McGirt

Parents, teachers, and local leaders have volunteered to support the event, offering to sponsor food, provide DJ services, or help organize activities.

Many expressed their commitment to collaborating to support youth development, demonstrating the strong community spirit in Pompano and Ely.

As of now, the event is still awaiting school approval, and a date will be coordinated with Ms. Connie McGirt, a key partner in the initiative.

Jazzmann encourages anyone who cares about the well-being of local youth to get involved, whether through volunteering, sponsoring, or helping promote the event.

By rallying together, the Pompano and Ely communities are taking a meaningful step toward creating a safer and more positive environment for students.
