AEW Dynamite Mariah May Responds She Won’t Slap Her Mother If She Stays In Her Seat And Keeps Quiet In Forbidden Door 2025

Mariah May shared a video on Twitter of her biological parents singing, and people couldn’t get enough of how amazing they were.

At AEW All In 2024, Mariah May left fans in shock when, during her World Championship match, she slapped her mother across the face.

The intense moment unfolded as May, on her way to defeating Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship, found herself in a heated exchange with her mother, seated in the front row.

Highlights

  • May mentioned that her mother likely won’t be at every show, but she might get an invitation to Forbidden Door 2025, provided she keeps her behavior in check.
  • Mariah May feels fortunate that her parents and family supported her wrestling career, even though they didn’t completely understand it.
  • She explained that, as someone from outside Japan and the U.S., she’s always seen as a “foreigner” in both places.

The slap caught everyone off guard and added an unexpected twist to an already high-stakes match.

Mariah May clarified that the slap came after her mother criticized her for being too extreme during her match with Toni Storm.

May explained that her intense performance resulted from the tough choices she’s made to further her career in professional wrestling.

“She was standing up and telling me to stop. Whose own mother tells
them to stop.. I was trying to become a World Champion I left home at
twenty to pursue my dreams of being a wrestler, I’ve moved countries
twice because this is all I’ve ever wanted and she was telling me to stop.
She said I was taking it too far

Mariah May Talks About Her Mother’s Attendance At Matches, Her Wrestling Journey From Indie To AEW

In a recent interview with Barstool Rasslin’, Mariah May was asked if her mother would attend all her future matches.

May clarified that her mother likely wouldn’t be at every event, though she might get an invite to Forbidden Door 2025 only if she behaved.

When asked about the possibility of another slap, May hinted that it could happen again, but only if her mother stayed quiet and kept to herself.

She’s not going to come to all of my matches. She lives in London, she’ll maybe get an invite to Forbidden Door [2025], maybe, at a push. She stays in her seat and keeps her mouth shut. [Upong being asked if she will slap her mother again] If she stays in her seat and keeps her mouth shut,” said May.

After all, Mariah May has wanted to be a wrestler since childhood. After finishing school, she trained while working other jobs to pay for it.

She started working on the indie scene, traveling around the country, training whenever she could, and wrestling in front of small crowds.

Eventually, she got to go to Japan for a short stay, but within weeks, she was asked to stay longer.

She moved to Japan with just two suitcases and got the opportunity to wrestle 100 matches, which played a key role in her eventual move to the U.S. and joining AEW.

It happened quickly but came after years of hard work, travel, and dedication. Now, she’s living her dream by wrestling at Wembley.

Mariah May Says Her Parents Don’t Understand Wrestling At All

Mariah May feels lucky that her parents and family supported her wrestling career, even though they didn’t fully understand it.

She has expressed she loves Stardom and AEW, describing them as her family.

She mentioned that she’s been a “foreigner” in both places since she’s from outside Japan and the U.S., but both companies have treated her with so much care and kindness.

May doesn’t have her family or many friends nearby, so the people in both places have taken her in.

She feels a sense of sisterhood in Japan, as the younger wrestlers remind her of school friendships.

In AEW, she sees it as a more prominent family, with people of all different backgrounds and experiences, almost like having mums, dads, brothers, and sisters around.
