Ryan Quinney untimely demise has put a lot of toll over his family.

Ryan Quinney was a linebacker for the Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) football team.

Tragically, the 20-year-old passed away in a car accident on November 8, 2024, while fleeing from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred in Yazoo City, Mississippi, after a police chase that began in Flora and ended with Quinney’s vehicle losing control. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash.

However, the driver of the vehicle was injured and subsequently airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Quinney’s parents and siblings are devastated by his sudden death. They, along with his other family and friends, have expressed their sympathies to him online.

Ryan Quinney’s Father, Anthony Cox, Cleared Up The Rumor Of Him Being In A High-Speed Chase

As Ryan Quinney’s case involved him being chased by officers, there were online questions about any wrongdoing.

However, his dad, Anthony Cox, took it to his Facebook and laid down the facts. He wrote,

“Hey let me clear up a RUMOR, Our son was in a high speed chase but HE WASN’T THE DRIVER. He was riding with a friend in his car at the time of the chase.”

So, Quinney wasn’t in control of the vehicle. Rather it was his friend driving. His father further shared,

“The reason for that person not wanting to stop we don’t know. But rest assured we believe in our hearts that our son tried to get him to stop. Now you have the facts to post.”

Since Ryan’s tragic loss, both of his parents, Anthony and Lavetter Jones-Cox, have been sharing updates about their family online. For instance, Anthony wrote a post,

“Lord It’s time for us to tell Josh about his favorite sibling! I don’t wanna see my guy go through this. I just wanna wake up and this all be a BAD DREAM.”

Likewise, Ryan’s father was the first to share the bad news on Facebook.

“Gm, on behalf of my family I’m deeply sadden to make the public announcement that our son Ryan Quinney passed away last night in Yazoo City. This is a pain I never wish any parent should experience. While i have to give all my support and attention to my love Lavetter Jones Cox and my family, I do ask that you keep us in your prayers.”

Anthony further requested not to call Lavetter to ask about the incident, as he didn’t want Ryan’s mother to keep replaying this tragedy in her mind.

Similarly, Ryan’s mother shared a couple of photos and video of her son writing,

“As I sit here to make this post. Lord give me strength!! I’m not ok!! But I thank everyone for being respectful!! But yes I lost my son on last night in a terrible accident. Ryan Quinney. So y’all please keep me in your prayers. It’s hard.”

Talking about Quinney’s parents, his mother, Lavetter is from Mobile, Alabama. She went to CF Vigor High School.

Ryan’s father is from Bay Minette, Alabama, but he is currently with his family in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Baldwin County High School.

Additionally, Quinney’s dad is a pastor and is honored with the title of Apostle. Furthermore, his parents work together to make people aware of breast cancer.

Quinney’s parents raised him alongside his three brothers, Rydarrian, Ryheem, and Josh.

Ryan Quinney’s Parents Shared Funeral Details On Facebook

Ryan Quinney’s parents recently released details on his funeral service. According to his father, Anthony, the services will happen.

“Thursday in Itta Bena, Ms @ 12 noon there will be a memorial service at the school. Friday at 5:30 @ Thoedore high school there will be a Ballon release.”

Anthony also requested that people,

“can bring purple, gold and orange balloons.”

Ryan’s dad also mentioned that the service will end,

“Saturday the service will be held at highpoint Baptist church on lott rd in Eightmile, Al @ 11am.”

Quinney’s mother, Lavetter, shared Anthony’s post, and she also uploaded a card that gives further details on the late MVSU athlete’s funeral.

The same photo was uploaded by Ryan’s brother, Ryheem Quinney. He also wrote a heartbreaking post,

“this post took everything in me to make..but for the ones who wanna come and show support we are having a ballon release at theodore high school”

Ryheem is devastated by the loss, and he writes,

“My twin really left me here.”
