SFU Football Player Kevon Walker Dies At 18, Leaves Behind Grieving Mother Briana Jacobs And Late Father Kevon Walker Sr.

Kevon Walker was an 18-year-old college football player who recently played for the Saint Francis University Red Flash team.

Walker joined the university in the summer of 2024, preparing for his freshman season. He graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York.

The university also held a memorial mass for Walker on Tuesday afternoon. His mother, Briana Jacobs, and other family members and friends, attended.

Also, Walker’s family confirmed that there was no “foul play” in his untimely demise.

Kevon Walker was born to his parents, Briana Jacobs and Kevon Walker Sr. Tragically, he lost his father back in 2018. With his dad not around, Walker’s mother watched over him.

His mom isn’t active on social handles. However, his aunt, Nicole Moore, who uses Facebook often, recently shared the heartbreaking story of Walker’s dad on the online platform.

While celebrating a joyful milestone of her son and nephew moving into their college dorms, Moore took a moment to reflect on her only brother’s passing, thus Walker’s dad.

In an emotional post, she recalled the pain of losing her only sibling six years ago, sharing,

“Even though this day 6yrs ago I lost my ONLY brother. Today both my kids officially moved into their dorms rooms. It’s definitely been a day.”

Moore expressed her pride in her nephew, Kevon, for making an effort to stay connected despite the distance and wrote,

“Even though I couldn’t be with my nephew he made sure he texted me at 5:46 this morning and FaceTimed me to show me his dorm. I’m definitely a proud mother and auntie, and I know my brother would’ve been bragging about the BOTH of them to the world.”

She continued her post with enthusiasm, showing her support for both her son and nephew, and said,

“So since he not here I’ll do it for him LETS GOOOOOO ZECHARIAH AND KEVON. Yall boys deserve this and I got yall forever. Thanks to EVERY person who gifted them with dorm supplies… We truly appreciate you.”

Likewise, on November 5, Moore shared another emotional update. She posted a photo of Kevon and wrote,

“My baby left me to be with his dad.”

Though not much is publicly known about Walker’s religious beliefs, his attendance at Canisius, a Catholic institution, suggests he may have had some connection to the Catholic community during his time there.

Similarly, Walker earned a spot on the 2023 first-team All-Catholic selection while playing for Canisius.

Known for his dominant presence on the field, the American college football star quickly made a name for himself with impressive performances throughout the season.

After Kevon Walker’s demise, his mother, Briana Jacobs, revealed they had spoken on Sunday. After that conversation, the late athlete became unreachable.

Jacobs texted Kevon but did not receive a response. Tragically, when she finally received news about him, it was heartbreaking.

In her words,

I started texting. I waited a while. I’m thinking he is running drills, just busy or coming back from the Halloween weekend, which is my birthday, so that’s really crushing me.

Walker is also survived by his grandmother, Taska Dennis, who, like his mother, publicly expressed her sentiments about Kevon.

“wasn’t only about football, he was about growth, educating others. It was about leaving something behind.”
