On September 16, Officer Peter Liu, trained in crisis intervention, visited Sydney Wilson’s apartment on Sunrise Valley Drive after her doctor had concerns about her mental health.

The body camera footage shows Officer Liu asking Sydney Wilson several times to step back as she approached him with a knife.

Despite his warnings, she kept coming closer, which pushed him into the hallway. When she moved toward him again, he fired three shots.

By her junior year (2011-12), she had become a key player, starting in 29 of 32 games, averaging 3.2 points and 3.8 rebounds, and leading the team with 24 blocked shots.

She recorded a career-high 12 rebounds against No. 7 Miami and made significant contributions in wins over ranked teams.
