After discovering Hope’s father had a second family, she went to find her stepsister and stepbrother, David.

Teresa was motherly to Hope, braiding her hair when she was 7 and driving her to softball games. Her son has always said she was like her first child.

Even though Hope and Teresa were step-sisters, they had a best-friend relationship but turned into strangers after a chaotic night on June 21, 2014.

Hope was charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault in the fourth degree against her half-sister and her son at a family party in Kirkland, Washington state. 

Teresa claimed that her stepsister called her son too fat for sports and slammed his head into the cement floor.

Christian was only 17 years old at the time of the incident. He stood 6 feet 8 inches and 270 lbs, whereas Hope was about 150 lbs.

She expressed she was defending herself from her nephew but was detained for three days and expressed,

My name was completely smeared. I had already been compared to Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. From here on out, no matter what happens, I’ll forever be associated with domestic violence.

Nonetheless, the charges were dropped in January 2015 when Teresa and her son didn’t cooperate with the prosecutors.
