Closed ones and relatives have encouraged Miles’ parents to stay strong in this challenging time.
Fanon was born and raised in Gary, Indiana, and graduated from Hampton University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
After completing his studies and passing the bar, he became a Cincinnati prosecutor for several years.
Later, he entered private practice, focused on Civil Rights, employment, municipal law, and general civil litigation, and served as the prosecutor for three villages.
In 2004, he ran for Hamilton County prosecutor as a write-in candidate against Joe Deters after then-prosecutor Mike Allen withdrew from his re-election race.
Fanon Rucker was appointed to the Hamilton County Municipal Court in 2007. He previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati.
Professionally, Rucker has authored more than 400 decisions, occasionally appears on a national news talk show discussing court topics, hosts student law clerks year-round, and serves as the elected secretary of the state association of municipal and county judges.
Fanon enjoys camping, fishing, boating, writing, performing spoken-word poetry, and spending time with his children in his spare time.
On the other hand, Miles’s mother, Shawntay, is a human resource specialist and recruiter at SORTA/Metro.
She was a US Air Force Reserve recruiter from August 2008 to 2011. Shawntay has avoided the media spotlight, so little about her personal life is known.
In addition, Miles Rucker had two daughters whose identity has been kept private. They are also mourning the loss of their beloved brother Miles.
