During his 10-year tenure, Schulte revitalized the Eagles‘ basketball program, leading the team to three consecutive Region I-4A Finals appearances from 2022 to 2024 and achieving an impressive 185-122 overall record.
His commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court has left an indelible mark on the Canyon community.

Travis And His Wife Shawna Are Loving Parents Of Two Daughters, One Of Whom Tragically Died In 2017
Travis married Shawna Schulte, née Kenworthy, on June 16, 2001.
They have two daughters, Shaylin and the late Tatum Schulte.
Shawna has been a steadfast supporter throughout Travis’s coaching career, playing a pivotal role in balancing family life with the demands of high school athletics.
Originally from Dimmitt, Texas, Shawna currently works as a registered dental hygienist at Amarillo Dental Works.
In an interview, she spoke about Tatum’s approach to fatherhood, noting,
I love watching it and from the beginning, we talked about the importance of a father-daughter relationship. Sometimes, I feel like he makes my job easier being a mom with a daughter, but their relationship is just super special, it really is.

Their eldest daughter, Shaylin, who is now pursuing her higher education at Oklahoma State University, shares a deep bond with her father, particularly through their mutual passion for basketball.
Shaylin was involved in her father’s coaching activities from a young age, often watching game films and discussing strategies.
She also played basketball in Canyon HS before graduating in 2023.

We have pictures of her watching film with me and asking questions and drawing plays and sitting on the bench with me before games.

Shaylin is currently dating a fellow OSU student, Tanner Birkenfeld.

In 2015, he took the helm at Canyon High School, where he transformed the basketball program into a formidable force.
Under his leadership, the Eagles achieved a perfect 14-0 record in District 4-4A during the 2022-2023 season.
