Braswell, 46, passed away on February 24, 2025, after suffering a heart attack in late January while coaching the Utsunomiya Brex in Japan.

Kevin Braswell’s Basketball Career Took Him Across The Globe
As Kevin Braswell completed his college career in 2002, he had secured his legacy as one of Georgetown’s top players.
He finished his time at the university ranked seventh in scoring with 1,735 points, first in assists with 695, and first in steals with 349.
Braswell also set a record for the most 3-pointers made with 189, which stood until 2007.
His accomplishments were recognized with several honors, including selection to the Big East All-Rookie Team and spots on the Second and Third Team All-Big East.
Kevin Braswell’s basketball career took him across the globe, and he played in numerous countries, such as Belgium, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Greece, the Dominican Republic, Russia, Bosnia, France, Israel, and New Zealand.
In 2011, he helped the New Zealand Breakers win an Australian National Basketball League (NBL) championship and earned the NBL Best Sixth Man Award.
Later, as a member of the Southland Sharks in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL), he led the team to titles in 2013 and 2015.
