Gil Cloud dedicated several decades to serving as an athletic director and coach at the collegiate and grade school levels. He held positions at Tulsa and Union Public Schools, Northeastern State University, and Upper Iowa University.
In 2021, after a 51-year career in education and as a sports director, Cloud retired from his role as Tulsa Public School athletic director, a position he had held since 2012.
His commitment to student-athletes and the educational community has left a lasting legacy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and beyond.
Gil Cloud Is Survived By Vickie Cloud, His Wife Of 59 years, A Former CFO At Premier Collegiate Consulting
Gil Cloud was surrounded by his close ones till his last breath. His wife, Vickie Cloud, was by his side throughout his life journey for 59 years.
Cloud and his wife, Vickie Tull Cloud, married on January 22, 1966. According to one of Gil’s Facebook posts from 2023, the couple met in 1962 and started dating then.
Furthermore, they got engaged in 1965 and married a year later, in January 1966.
Gil’s wife, Vickie, is the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Premier Collegiate Consulting. She also studied at Upper Iowa University and attended Will Rogers High School.
Beyond her professional expertise, Vickie has been Gil’s loving wife and an exponential mother to her children.
On her Facebook account, Gil and his wife Vickie often show love and appreciation towards each other.
After the demise of Gil Cloud, Vickie Cloud shared a quote on his remembrance and as words for courage to her, which writes,
Don’t cry over the past, it’s gone. Don’t stress about the future, it hasn’t arrived, live in the present and make it beautiful.
Gil Cloud Raised Two Children With His Wife, Son Matt, And Daughter Kimberly
Gil Cloud was a proud father of his two athletic children, son Matt Cloud and daughter Kimberly Anne Williams.
His daughter, Kimberly, played softball at Northeastern State University while pursuing her english education department.
Moreover, Kim further pursued her studies in educational leadership and administration at Baylor University and later earned a degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
She also coached basketball and softball at Skiatook High School. Now, Kim is a community affairs manager at OG&E, a local business.
On the other hand, Gil Cloud’s son, Matt Cloud, is a former high school and collegiate athlete at Gutherie High School and Arkansas State University.
He now serves as the director of athletics at Tahlequah High School. He has been the team’s coach since 2009.
Formerly, Gil’s son Matt was head baseball coach at Friends University from 2006 to 2007 and Iowa Wesleyan College from 2004 to 2006.
