Scott William Sauerbeck was into games like baseball, soccer, and basketball at Northwest High School in Cincinnati. After graduating in 1990, he joined Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

The New York Mets drafted him in the 23rd round of the 1994 amateur draft, and after four seasons in the minor league, Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in the 1998 Rule 5 draft.

During the 2003 season, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox, where he pitched in 26 games and made one postseason appearance.

Scott signed with the Cleveland Indians but missed the 2004 season due to an injury.

However, Indians released him in June 2006 due to his poor performance on the field and his arrest for permitting someone intoxicated to drive his car. Later, he joined the Oakland Athletics.

Before retiring, he played in the minor league with the Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago White Sox.
