Pennsylvania, Julian Naumenko, a promising young soccer player at Rutgers University-Camden and the son of the Very Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko, tragically passed away at the age of 19.
He had just started his freshman year when a terrific car accident took his life.

Julian Naumenko, a rising soccer star from Hatboro, PA, made a name for himself as a goalkeeper at Archbishop Wood High School, where he graduated in 2024.
He served as captain for his final two seasons, earned recognition on the All-Rookie team, and was named an All-PCL player twice.
Proud of his Ukrainian-American heritage, Julian played for the Ukrainian Nationals club team for ten years.
His coach shared that Julian had great potential to make a name for himself at Rutgers University-Camden, where he committed to play soccer in early 2024.

After sharing Julian’s highlight video with a former goalkeeper All-American, both agreed that Julian showed great potential.
The coach believed Julian would have every opportunity as a freshman to compete for the starting role, with the former All-American likely offering guidance behind the scenes.

Born on November 21, 2005, to Laura and Taras Naumenko in Hatboro, PA, Julian’s life was filled with talent.
Julian Naumenko’s Ukrainian Orthodox priest father once posted on Twitter asking people to vote for Julian, who was nominated for Boys Athlete of the Week.
It was the fourth week in a row that a student from Archbishop Wood was nominated.
Just a week ago, on January 4, Julian Naumenko shared pictures with his friends on Instagram, captioning them with “beautiful life.”
His passing leaves a deep void, and those who knew him will always cherish his memory.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA confirmed the heartbreaking news and left the community in shock.
In their message of condolences, the church expressed their deep sympathy and support for his family, friends, and the entire parish community.
