American Sports Reporter, Sarah Kustok Opens Up About Her Family’s Painful Past: Father’s Affairs And Mother’s Tragic End

Sarah's father, Allan Kustok, worked as a sales representative for a sports medicine company in Florida.

Sarah Kustok’s father was accused of shooting his wife Anita “Jeanie” Kustok in the face.

The Brooklyn Nets fans have had little to cheer about in 2025, given that their team has lost all but one of its five calendar games to start the year.

Highlights

  • During the Brooklyn Nets game, Sarah watched the ball with one hand played by Cade Cunnigham.
  • Sarah was born to her father, Allan Kustok, and her mother, Anita “Jeanie” Kustok.
  • She grew up with her brother Zak Adam Kustok, an American businessman.

Still, they found something to get hyped about during the Nets’ 113-98 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

During one sequence, Cade Cunningham tried to go after a loose ball as it approached the sideline. The ball went out of bounds right into the fingertips of the Nets’ lead game analyst.

Sarah Kustok, sitting right next to longtime Nets commentator Ian Eagle, grabbed the ball with one hand before it could get lost in the stands.

This one-handed catch is by no means a fluke. She is a former captain of the DePaul Blue Demons and was known for her strong outside shooting skills.

Nets fans were excited by her unexpected feat and praised her online.

Sarah Kustok’s Father, Allan Kustok, Was Found Guilty Of Fatally Shooting Sarah’s Mother, Anita Jeanie Kustok

Sports reporter Sarah Kustok, 43, was born on December 17, 1981, in Orland Park, Illinois, United States, to her father, Allan Kustok, and her mother, Anita “Jeanie” Kustok.

According to the source, her father, Allan Kustok, worked as a sales representative for a sports medicine company in Florida.

In 2014, a judge sentenced Allan to 60 years for the murder of his wife in their home. As per the reports, he shot and killed Sarah’s mother, Anita, on September 29, 2010, while she was sleeping in her bed.

Prosecutors have said Kustok had multiple extramarital affairs before killing his wife. Kustok’s attorney, Rick Bueke, said,

“Over the years, it finally took a toll on him where he wanted everybody to hear what went through his mind that morning,

In a six-minute statement, Allan Kustok sent condolences to his in-laws and cried when speaking of his wife.

He said his time working in a funeral home as a teenager was the reason he delayed getting Jeannie to the hospital.

Allan said he knew she was going to die, and he wanted to spend their final moments as husband and wife.

Sarah Kustok, who worked as a sports anchor and reporter for Comcast SportsNet in Chicago, was at court for the sentencing.

However, CBS 2’s Marissa Bailey reports that she left before the sentencing hearing was over.

Sarah has yet to comment publicly on the family tragedy that found her father guilty.

She defended her father’s innocence during the four-week trials, as he claimed his wife, an elementary school teacher, had shot herself. Moreover, she declined to comment on her relationship with her father.

Sarah remains close to her brother, Zak Adam Kustok, 45, an American businessman who was the starting quarterback for the Northwestern Wildcats from 1999 to 2001.

Zak has also spoken out at his father’s murder trial. He said that he does not accept his father’s behavior, and when asked if he could forgive him, he said, “I’m working on that.”

He told the Southtown Star that he is uncomfortable commenting on whether his dad is guilty.

Zak is married to Nicole Kustok, named Minnesota’s 1999 Junior Miss, and ran cross-country at Northwestern.
