It was February 24, 2024, the 12th birthday of his daughter Yelizaveta, when the bombs started landing on Usyk’s home.
The Usyk family was forced to move to a safe place from their home, where they shared many memories.

Oleksandr Usyk married his beloved wife, Yekaterina Usyk, in 2009. They had been together for a couple of years before their marriage.
Yekaterina is a former model who now runs The Usyk Foundation. This charitable organization was created to support Ukraine during the illegal Russian invasion.
The foundation focuses on key areas of humanitarian aid, such as helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces and supporting Ukrainians affected by war.

To help the country, Usyk fled his home to join the Kyiv Defence Battalion. He had a machine gun slung over his shoulder by February 28.
