New Milford Golf Champion And Ice Hockey Junior William Neeb, 16, Dies In Tragic Accident After His GMC Acadia Crashes Into Fence

On Tuesday afternoon, the New Milford Green Wave ice hockey team members held a memorial for the student at the crash site.

On Monday night, William Neeb was caught in a car accident on Pickett District Road.

William Neeb, who was born in 2008 in Milford, United States, was known for his academic achievements and dedication to the New Milford High School community.

Despite ice hockey, William was an accomplished golfer and earned All-State recognition for his kills on the course.

New Milford Junior William Neeb Lost His Life In A Car Accident

The New Milford High School hockey team members gathered Tuesday, December 17, 2024, to remember a beloved friend, William Neeb.

Neeb lost his life when he crashed his car on Pickett District Road on Monday, December 16, 2024, according to a post on Facebook by New Milford Superintendent of Schools Janet Parlato. Parlato said,

“Will was an excellent student who carried an honors course load…”, later adding, “Will was known for his kind heart, his friendliness to peers, and his diligence as a student. He will be tremendously missed by his peers and the staff of New Milford Public Schools.”

Police confirmed the driver was a New Milford High School student but did not disclose his identity. Lt. Katherine Relyea said,

“Our hearts go out to the family and we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers,”

New Milford police said they received reports of a car crash in the 200 Pickett District Road area at 8:09 p.m. on Monday.

Officers responded to the reports quickly and located a GMC Acadia off the roadway and through a fence with significant damage.

William, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was discovered inside the wreckage and was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to New Milford police.

The police department confirmed that the crash was under investigation, and its Crash Reconstruction Team was processing the scene.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the cause of the crash, but it has been confirmed that William was driving at the time of the accident.

On Tuesday afternoon, the New Milford Green Wave ice hockey team members held a memorial for the student at the crash site.

Three police cars were parked along Pickett District Road to slow down traffic near the memorial site.

Student-athletes, coaches, and team supporters walked toward the site across the street from Odyssey at 200 Pickett District Road.

Many students carried hockey sticks and sported Green Wave ice hockey apparel.

Gathering in silence in front of the broken fence where William’s car had crashed, students laid the hockey sticks against the fence individually.

The sticks were labeled with messages for Neeb and his hockey jersey No.12. The head coach of the ice hockey team said,

“Will was a beautiful soul,”. “We can lean on each other, be there for each other…Will would want us to go on.”

“Will was a hockey player, is a hockey player, always will be a hockey player,”“He loved hockey, he loved you guys — let’s be there for each other.”

A few people stepped forward to share what they loved about the student before the group resumed their silence.

At Dietter’s command, everyone in the crowd huddled into a circle and stood together before breaking off at a count of “1,2,3… Will!”

  • William had two elder sisters, Amanda Neeb and Maddie Neeb Bouzakis. In 2023, Maddie tied the knot with Chris Bouzakis, a meteorologist at WWLP-22News.
