Dan Hurley might be a fierce college basketball coach on the court, but he is a loving husband and proud dad at home.
The University of Connecticut head coach leads a happy family of four along with his wife of over 25 years, Andrea Hurley (née Sirakides).

Andrea has taken on the role of a second mom. She provided care and support, including baking cupcakes for the players’ birthdays.

Dan Hurley First Met Andrea While Attending Seton Hall University
Both Dan Hurley and his wife, Andrea Hurley, graduated from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.
The couple got married on 29 August 1997 at the Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury wedding venue in their state.
The couple celebrated their 27th anniversary in August 2024. The college basketball coach’s spouse wrote,
“On to our 27th chapter of the best story about the greatest team of all time❤️”
When Andrea met Dan at Seton Hall, she had no idea about his famous basketball family.
Dan Hurley’s father, Bob Hurley, was the legendary coach of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, winning 26 state championships over 39 years.
In addition, his brother, Bobby Hurley, was a star player at Duke University and later became the head coach at Arizona State University.
While speaking with WTNH in March 2023, the UConn coach said,
“I met her at Seton Hall. It’s like, by far, the best thing that happened to me at Seton Hall, but that was the thing that saved my life when I met her and changed my life and made me want to be better.”

“I didn’t know his story. And then, you know, we just became friends, and next thing you know, we’re engaged. We’ve been best friends ever since.”
Dan and Andrea Hurley Have Two Sons, Danny And Andrew
The Hurley couple’s first son, Danny or Daniel Hurley, was born on 1 July 1999. They welcomed their second son, Andrew Hurley, on 30 January 2002, three years later.
The basketball coach is incredibly proud of both sons and says they are similar to him.
Both of the Hurley brothers played basketball under their dad’s coaching while attending St. Benedict High School in Newark, New Jersey.
Dan has always valued being a present and supportive father. He said that he stayed in high school coaching longer than he needed to for his sons.
“I wanted to be a parent that gave them love and time, to set an example for them. I did the Little League games, the Pop Warner, the CYO matchups. That all meant something to me.”

Danny pursued a different career path. He graduated from Seton Hall in 2021 with a degree in history.
Since then, he has worked as an aide to the governor of New Jersey and now serves as a legislative aide for Senate President Scutari.
Furthermore, Andrew is a guard for the UConn basketball team under his father’s coaching.
Having one’s father as a coach may put more strain on an athlete. However, Andrew said,
“Yeah, it’s definitely hard not to acknowledge the basketball family that I come from.”
“But no, I don’t feel any pressure, really. It’s hard to when you have such a supportive family around you, and they do a great job of reminding how much they love me … so it doesn’t really bother me at all.”
